Some exciting news!

An all-time favorite game of mine is being made into a movie, with fantastic casting and director…gasp and transform into a retarded hysterical fangirl…

The Game

Having followed the game series through my DS lite playing days into my iPhone games playing craze, I fell deeply in love with the quirky characters, great soundtrack, funny moments and gameplay style in this courtroom drama/simulation/detective/whachamaycallit genre game

Many a sleepless night, bumping into pillars and people while commuting has occurred while I solved eccentric crime mysteries, questioned a suspicious witness, shouting “OBJECTION” and blowing into my DS lite and iPhone microphone to uncover incriminating fingerprints.

Anyway, the point is this game rocked my world. So try it out if you like the same kind of thing

The first installment is playable on Sega Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS lite, Wii, PC and Mac and yes, iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

BACK to the movie…

It will be focusing on the plot from first installment of the game which was in storyline, the best of the series and is currently in production to be released in early spring 2012.

The movie is directed by one of Japan’s most controversial directors, Takashi Miike whose films range from family-friendly titles like, The Great Yokai War, Yatterman, the classic film Salaryman Kintaro to manga-inspired cool action films like Crows Zero,  Zatoichi, to impactful, violent movies with the power to make audience cringe in pain and nausea like Ichi the Killer and Audition.

The casting is pretty apt as well I feel.

Narimiya Hiroki as 成歩堂 龍一 (Naruhodō Ryūichi) aka Phoenix Wright

An actor capable of many faces and roles, cool at times, goofy in others, thumbs up on this casting! Catch him in other great dramas and movies like Stand Up!! , Gokusen, Yankee-kun to Megane-chan, Bloody Monday, Nana 2 and Drop

Mirei Kiritani as (綾里 真宵 Ayasato Mayoi) aka Maya Fey

There is an uncanny resemblance between this up-and-coming pretty actress/model and Maya I have to say!

Mirel Kiritani’s popularity stormed up after her break in a primetime drama, Natsu no Koi wa Nijiiro ni Kagayaku playing across Matsumoto Jun and Takeuchi Yuko.

Coincidentally, she is also going to be starring in another great manga to anime to live action drama series known as Arakawa Under the Bridge, a gag comedy featuring very interesting characters living under a bridge. She plays the lead heroine who claims to be a Venusian that survives by hunting live fish and swallowing them whole, go figure.

Takumi Saito as (御剣 怜侍 Mitsurugi Reiji) aka Miles Edgeworth

I can’t say I know much about this actor but I’ll look forward to seeing him play out Phoenix Wright’s eternal enemy and friend, Miles Edgeworth. He looks like he’s capable of Edgeworth’s signature smug but I’ll be double impressed if he can pull these faces off as well.
